Lupines are legumes, so they fix nitrogen in the soil, improving fertility for nearby plants. Their tall, spiky blooms are nicknamed “bluebonnets of the North” and can dramatically change the color of entire landscapes when in bloom. Photographically, I often try to isolate a subject against a simple, non-distracting subject. In this case, I was able to find a single flower and position in a way to help it pop.
