A humpback whale lifts its tail above the water before a deep dive in Glacier Bay. The surrounding mountains provide a static backdrop, highlighting the whale’s movement and the scale of the natural environment. Whales are often seen in the park, but not for long. Strict regulations are in place in Glacier Bay to add protection to these animals. Whales cannot be approached to within half a mile. In general, whether inside the park or not, it is generally recommended to leave any whale after watching it for 30 minutes. Photographer: Sean Neilson
